Saturday, February 25, 2006 Dream. There she was. We went into the cavernous auditorium. It was already quite filled up. The compere was entertaining the guests who had already arrived. We walked down the aisle and were ushered to our seats. As soon as we settled into our plush seats, the show began. Myriads of pyrotechnic fireworks burst into life as performers took to the glitzy stage. As the compere introduced the performers who were going to perform for us tonight, the voice was lost in the midst of kaleidoscopic lights, thumping music and uproars of the audience. The audience became deathly silent as the first act began. A female garbed in flamboyant colours appeared on the stage. All manners of freaks began to amble down the aisles from the back of the auditorium and took their place along it. The female on the stage asked for entertainment. Immediately, fireworks flash across the stage as the crowd became noisy again. The freaks turned to face their respective rows, their hands weaving through the air as coloured confetti magically appears as their movement proceeded. Some even threw out long strands of cloths to the delight of the audience. The female on the stage beckoned for props. The audience began to offer their belongings to her, clamouring for her to take it but none went onto the stage, as though there was a invisible barrier that prevents them from doing so. A girl offered her tote bag. One of the freaks took it and began to glide away. Another turned towards her with a pained expression on her face, beckoning her not to do so with her frantic gesticulations. The whole scene seems to withdraw from me as the consciousness within me began to dawn. Then, I woke up. |
